DESTINATION MASTER PLAN
The Destination Master Plan (DMP) was completed in 2023 and is an assessment of Durham’s development needs based on a 20-year, community-wide vision to further Durham as a thriving visitor destination and exceptional place to live and work.
Created through extensive, county-wide input and comparative research led by Discover Durham, the plan aims to leverage increased visitor spending to strengthen Durham’s local economy, celebrate its character and facilitate intentional, inclusive growth to support a prosperous future.
In 2024, Discover Durham launched Durham Next, a 501(c)(3) community partnership for the sustainable advancement of Durham as the best place to live, work and visit, to oversee the implementation of the DMP’s 60+ initiatives.
