My husband and I love coming here for their brisket. So tender and juicy with a nice smoky flavor. Their baked beans had a unique flavor, not your typical sweet sauce baked beans. I had their brussel sprouts for the first time and they were very tasty. Just a bit undercooked but the flavor was delicious. Love their cole slaw and mac and cheese. The staff is always friendly and when not busy, the bar tender came around to everyone and asked if we were satisfied or if we needed anything. Picnic isn’t a large place, but it’s quaint and always clean. It’s always worth the 50 minute drive for us to come and get some of the best brisket at a very reasonable price. Everything is homemade including the desserts.

I love the catfish from Picnic. It is so good. Pretty much everything I’ve had from here is delicious, including the banana pudding and mac n’ cheese. My husband gets brisket as that’s his favorite. The food comes out quick, which is a plus.

These guys rocked it when it came to my food allergy. Great service. Food was fantastic. Some outdoor dining. I'll be back!

Picnic is so good! By the looks of the sign and outside decor it looks like a sit down restaurant with a server. To my surprise you ordered at the front and they brought it to you. I didn’t mind because we came in with a toddler. The lady who took our order was very friendly and helpful. Our food came out quick. It was so good. I got the NC whole hog BBQ sandwich, my daughter got the chicken sandwich, my boyfriend got the NC whole hog BBQ plate with okra, Mac and cheese and we got a side of baked beans for my son. We really enjoyed everything. The inside was really nice especially the lights on the ceiling and the big windows. I liked how clean the inside was and very modern.

It's a really cool BBQ and seafood restraunt. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The service was great! There are lots of entree options from BBQ to seafood . Seafood was very fresh. There are a ton of great sides for a Vegastable plate as well. Will definitely be back to try some other options.

Visiting from VA. Amazing food. We were blown away by their sides - the collards, potato salad, baked beans…all fantastic. Dog friendly and family friendly. They also had a great beer selection. We would highly recommend!

I am new to Durham and found great reviews for the food and dog friendliness here. Someone said they even brought a complimentary water bowl out as soon as they arrived. The food was just ok, there was no care or concern for my Goldendoodle or a water bowl and the guy who brought out the food actually just tried to avoid my very laid back dog. Hummm. Maybe you gotta be a regular or, some other specialness about you for true pet "friendliness". I hope you find it better... I'll be checking out other venues. Oh, Sugar did love the hush puppies!

This is legit some of the best southern BBQ that you can get in Durham. When my friends and family from out-of-state visit, and want authentic Southern food, this is where I take them. Everything here is so on point, that I don't even have a favorite. Try everything. Enjoy, relax, get the itis.

This place is exactly what you need after a long hike at Eno. The food was so delicious. I never clean my whole plate and I had absolutely no problem doing so. Everything was good. I wish I was closer!

Really enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich and the pork was quite good if a little dry. The biggest thing keeping it from a five-star rating were the sides, which - hush puppies not withstanding - felt like a bit of an afterthought.

I really wanted to give this place a five, but it came up short in many areas . First was the fish sandwich . It had a nice portion of fish and the fish was cooked very well .. the problem was the bread . The sandwich just fell apart halfway thru eating it. The bread was soggy , may help if likely toasted . We push the bread aside and ate the fish . Next the hushpuppies were also soggy. Also, we didn't eat them .. the brisket was cooked beautifully and the pulled pork very well also .. lastly a smile can go a long way when you are dealing with customers, and no one seem like they care if we were there or not .
