I was shocked with how packed this place was! It’s a quick service place, so you order at the counter and then sit and eat if you want. There is also a bar that was full! There tacos were so good. We got a specialty taco they had and it’s absolutely incredible. I will say that taco was 7$ so be prepared this isn’t a cheap quick service place. However, the quality is good. The fresh salsas were also great!

We tried three tacos each with different fillings. Overall the different meats had good flavor. The tortillas were very hard on the edges, a sign of being left out in the open to long. We tried all their sauces and were pleased with the flavors.

I've been coming here for years and years. Best tacos/burritos/etc hands down. Always consistent. There's always been this INCREDIBLE lady working behind the counter with her cool nails. She is the epitome of amazing customer service.
I gave it 5 stars because the food is good and this is a home staple for me. However, ever since the lady with the cool nails left and now there are 2 guys working behind the counter, THEY AINT IT. Standing behind the counter, lazy, entitled. Will tell you certain things are in the food just so you don't order extra. Makes fat shaming jokes to the people in the kitchen if you have to order extra. DO BETTER.

I was at the Hope Valley Rd location at 2 pm, Oct 7. The restaurant is nice and clean. The folks were very nice and efficient.
The food was good. I had the chicken Carlitos Chubby. It was good, but I ordered it 'spicy'. If that was spicy, I can't imagine 'mild' would have any flavor at all.
I plan to return and hope to make regular visits from now on.

Wish I could give Chubby’s six stars! They’re food is really good and reasonably priced, plus they have a great salsa bar. The owner is the sweetest person ever, and they are part of our local community. Also, solid rewards program. Couldn’t be happier with them! They don’t have all the options of a traditional Mexican restaurant, but their menu fits their style. Highly recommend!

So I got two al pastor tacos, and they were slightly better than average, but at FIVE DOLLARS for ONE TACO, I really was expecting the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life, that was not the case… at that price you can get at least two instead of one at any other place. I don’t know how they’re able to claim “best tacos in RDU”, but I highly doubt it. I’m not saying the food was bad or anything, but definitely not worth what I paid for it. I get overhead costs and what nor, but it’s still a little ridiculous. Also, they only had like one or two salt shakers in the whole place??

We went to Chubbys tacos for my daughter’s birthday. We got in and found the line, it’s to the left when you walk in. We walked past the really cool murals on the wall one that read “Cubby’s Tacos” with a taco and a dog on top of a bull with a rainbow behind it. The artist put a lot of time into these. We got to the register and I ordered 3 Carne Asada tacos (non spicy) with a side of rice and refried beans. It was so good. They reminded me of street tacos like I used to get when I lived in NYC. They were so good, they were fresh and delicious I highly recommend. My daughter got the same without the side. My boyfriend got the “Chubby” Changa with Tinga chicken. It was delicious. It has a lot of cream. My daughter and I got Jarrito sodas which aren’t easy to find. They even had Mandarin, not many places carry this flavor. We also got chips and salsa which were complimentary. They had a whole salsa bar to choose from. I really liked these tacos and we will definitely be back.

The best tacos I’ve had at any restaurant in Durham. Love the fact that they have a salsa bar that compliment the chips well. Their torta is life-changing I would recommend it with the spicy tinga chicken. They have different options for dessert but the plantains are the MVP of the dessert team.
