The Durham Bulls are proud to host an African American Heritage Night, as they take on the Gwinnett Stripers. The Bulls are celebrating and honoring Durham African American heritage. They will host a tribute to the rich history of the Negro Leagues and its profound impact on the game as we know it today. They will be recognizing local Negro League players, the Hayti community and the Bimbe’ Cultural Arts festival. The North Carolina Central University band will perform the National Anthem. As part of the annual celebration, players will wear throwback uniforms with the number 42, a jersey number that has been retired from the league since 1997, in honor of Jackie Robinson.
