Fabulous meal in an environment crafted to be thoughtful and intentional down to the very last detail. What a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday.

BEST RESTAURANT EVER!!! The food was expertly prepared, the plating was methodical and beautiful, and the hosts were kind and thoughtful. We have all of the courses, and a wonderful dessert that the chef starting making nearly 10 hours in advance of our reservation! We finished off the meal with some earthy and smooth matcha, and then left feeling very satisfied. My family and I had a wonderful time and can't wait to return. Thank you Yamazushi!

What an experience! They are so nice and put so much thought into the process. The chef made all the plates (and I suspect lots of the decor too). You get to have a variety of Japanese food. The flavors are so delicate. Def worth the wait and is a gem!

One of the most interesting and unique dining experiences we've ever had. One of the most expensive as well, but considering they only seat 2 tables a night, it's not unreasonable. We loved that the chef made all of the dishware we ate off of. And his wife provided incredible service. Not something we can afford to do regularly but we'd love to try it again sometime.

Very high ratings for communication, customer service, and quality. From the second you enter the restaurant you feel as tho you are halfway around the world. You get lost in the food/decor. Every dish served was visually appealing, fresh, and tasty. This is a once in a lifetime experience and would recommend it. It is more of an experience than anything else. Be prepared for a long wait to get a reservation and for smaller portions than most are accustomed to. The price is also high, but it's not a place you will eat at often and the experience is worth it.

What an amazing experience! So many different aromas, flavors and textures -- all presented beautifully on bespoke ceramic dishes. The impeccable and unintrusive service combined with the beautiful decor made for a serene experience. By the time I got home, I felt like I had just enjoyed a relaxing weekend getaway. I'll definitely be coming back!

Indescribably amazing. Best experience I've had outside of Japan itself.

Yamazushi is like no other restaurant in the Triangle. I have had dinner there twice now and each time the food is superb and the hospitality all-encompassing. A great place to go to get away from the world for a couple of hours.

I've lived in NC almost all my life and I've watched Yamazushi how and evolve over the years, always for the better. The food is expensive, yes, but it is well worth the price. Each culinary delight is served upon dishes/pottery that the chef/owner made himself. While each of the 8 courses are small, they add up and I felt well fed after I was done. I recommend getting the sake as well as they only offer quality sakes you might have trouble finding on your own. The atmosphere and set up of the restaurant is beautiful and has to be seen in person to be able to admire it's beauty in full. 7 out of 5 stars.

The 5 star aspect of this is the service, decor, and place settings. All are absolutely world class. Two servers cater to all your needs unobtrusively, they keep your drinks poured (did we really need all that sake??), and plates are cleaned and delivered flawlessly. The interior is beautiful with a little garden and many Japanese decorations. The plates and glasses they use are absolutely gorgeous, I don't think you'll see anything like it anywhere else. Food wise, for the price, I would say is more of a three star experience. The highlight was the fried course. A very crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside scallop and vegetables. Sushi and sashimi courses were good--but equivalent to what you can get in other places. There were other good, but not outstanding, Japanese flavors in the other courses. The green tea ice cream based desert was good, but not outstandingly so.

Truly enjoyable experience from the moment you walk in. The staff and service were exceptional and really made me feel like I was having the authetic Japanese experience. Food was fresh and delicious and the different courses covered a wide range of carefully thought out dishes.

Fantastic service in a small, cozy setting. Food is stellar, if a bit expensive. The 2 hour long experience is one I will remember. Reservations are required, and you might have to wait months, but I’d say it was worth it. From the pottery, to the ambiance, and food - a unique experience.

Good service, nice environment, but terrible food experience. All every small dishes and only 8 courses includes dessert. It is far not enough for an audlt. It is for kid! $125 per person but totally no High-grade ingredients. For sushi course, you will get basic nigiri which are tuna and salmon and even not good than other normal sushi restaurant. I think wagyu beef and O-toro will make it worth the price lol.

Amazing intimate experience with Japanese cuisine. Service was impeccable! Very detailed, kind, fun and wonderful people add a touch of elegance to the experience of eating an 8 course meal that is hard to come by these days, a truly transformative experience. I've never had something quite like this and will highly recommend this place to everyone I know. Absolutely wonderful!

Amazing Kaiseki, in NC. Totally blown away. The authentic Japanese experience is awesome. The quality is off the chart, and is appropriately priced.

Had a fantastic birthday dinner here with my wife. I felt like I was back in Tokyo. Food and sake were top notch and service was perfect. I even received a gift bottle when I left. I wish I would say I will be back but it is hard to get a seat there. Highly recommend.

It was an awesome experience eating at yamazushi. The decor, the atmosphere is very calming and soothing. All the sashimi is really good and melts in your mouth, but tempura could have been better considering the price point.

Yamazushi was such a lovely, authentically Japanese experience. Each course was transcendent, flavorful and delicate. The sake pairing really took it to the next level. It was well worth the wait for such an intimate and special meal.

Overall good food and sake and a cool experience. The chef makes beautiful pottery the food is served on. However, the food while good overall fell a bit short of what we had hoped for considering the cost. The menu does change so it is possible another night we might have been more blown away.

Our experience was beautiful and artfully guided. Chef Yamazushi's eight course menu was skillfully designed, beautifully prepared and delicious. *Also as a bonus, the assorted pottery made by chef was a treat. Yamazushi lives up to its reputation as the most authentic Japanese cuisine in the Triangle.

Just wonderful. I’ve been to several kaiseki restaurants in NYC and Tokyo and this one compares favorably. The wagashi was maybe the best I’ve tasted. Go for the sake pairing, it’s worth it. Service is impeccable. Wonderful NC treasure.
