This place is awesome. It has great food. The food is made to order, so it takes a little time, but the tacos are great. It is old school, so you eat outside or takeaway. There is extra parking around the building, so even if it looks full you can probably find a place to park.

The shrimp ceviche is fantastic. I haven't had better Mexican food in Durham. You probably will have to wait for walk up, but you can order ahead.

Good food but expect to wait in line. Took about 15 minutes from line to table. Had a good time with those Lengua tacos...while they lasted 😁

Pretty good tacos, I was surprised how generous the amount of meet was. They have a big menu with a variety of mexican dishes. This place is more a take-out kind of thing. Seating is outside, small, and can get pretty hot during the summer. Plus when we were there, a couple of impolite guys started putting loud music in their cellphone (they were like drunk or somethin). Definitely would buy food from this place again.

Great food. Service can be a bit show during crowded times but usually worthb the wait. Covered outdoor seating only.

The menu is one of this spots strongest selling points. There is something for everyone and it hits pretty much all of the staples you might be in the mood for. I LOVE the Winfield for their willingness to accommodate large groups. This is a consistent choice for post-show hangs with friends, and I am grateful to their staff for their flexibility and kindness.

Summary: Awesome place for a quick lunch/dinner packed with big flavors and an eclectic atmosphere, that could use a good wipe down. Cleanliness: 3/5. Won't lie, the place could use a good sweep/wipe down and when we came it was relatively unbusy. However I don't fault them due to the fact it appeared there was only one woman cooking, serving, doing all the work in the back and she was hustling to fill orders being called in. Quality: 5/5. More than enough food for your appetite. Portions are big and this is coming from a big guy. I had my wife who had ordered a beef tongue torta put half her sandwich away to-go, and help me finish my pollo azada plate. House-made sauces were just the right amount of HOT to ignite the senses and tongue (without destroying you later in the bathroom). Service: 5/5. To be fair, the lady was very overwhelmed working all by herself. She forgot our Grapefruut Jarrito's drink but apologized and gave it to us immediately upon our mention at the end of our meal. Return-ability: 5/5. Hell yeah I'll be back! The food was incredible!

Great hole-in-the-wall spot for authentic Mexican food. The cheese enchiladas with salsa verde were wonderful. Will be back soon to try other things!

I’ve only just discovered the wonders of the self-serve salsas. I’ve never had a salsa like this before. Mexican chili oil takes this place to 5 stars.

I have been going to La Vaquita since 2013. It is easily one of my favorite spots in the triangle. The food is amazing. I'm particularly fond of the enchiladas poblanas.

Omg the salsa is perfectly spicy. The food has the best flavor and the tortillas seem homemade.

La Vaquita is in very convenient location for to people to visit. They provide parking, semi indoor seating and outdoor seating. It is recommended of you known what you want to order in advance and do a pick up order. Upon my most recent visit to La Vaquita I was pleasantly surprised when I order a Carnitas Tapas (Pork Mexican Sandwich) and a pineapple Jarritos. When I got my food it looked tiny in the bag but when I took it out it as huge, literally the size of my hand. I had food to eat there with there amazing spicy red and salsa verde sauces. It was a beautiful experience and was packed with flavors for a great cost. The first time I went to La Vaquita I went with my friend again and ordered two Chirzo Tacos with additional cheese and sour cream along with a strawberry Jarritos. It was simply divine and it only cost me around $6! If you want amazing Mexican food this should definitely be a place that you add to your list!

Good value, take away only. They do have picnic tables. Ask for the very hot sauce if you like it on the warmer side, but the normal one has nice burn to it!

This place has delicious tacos. For less then $10.00 you get rice and beans and your chose of three different tacos. That's cheap! Whenever I pass by I always get myself an order. They're very nice and I never had an issue with parking.

I moved here from California and it’s difficult to find good Mexican food in NC. Most of the places here don’t even compare and shouldn’t call themselves authentic.. but this place is pretty good! It taste a lot like home.. not exactly the same but pretty close. Their horchata is definitely the same! It’s really good. My only complaint is that the portions are kind of small for the price. Paid close to $30 for 2 meals but they skimped out on the portions.

Awesome taco spot. Picnic tables for seating. Veggie options. There is an increase in price for non cash purchases, there is a sign on wall.

The quality of their food is good but the quantity is pretty skimped. If you live close to them then I get the rave. If you’re a Durham local, then you definitely know that there are better places in Durham with better prices. I spent $8.50 on two small tacos and a small quesadilla. I can go to other places and pay the same price and get bigger portions.

That's some dang good Mexican. Outdoor seating is covered which is nice on a drizzly day. Loved the tacos, especially the Carnitas and the lengua. Not fancy, not expensive.
