This place was so quaint! The service was excellent, and it was immaculate. On the other side of the restaurant, behind the cook’s station, was a cool bar (I didn’t grab a pic of it). The food was delicious. It was pricey for a family dinner but I would absolutely go back with a few friends for a celebration of some kind. That’s my 2¢. Now you go decide ✨

Great location, vibe, and staff. The food is just ok. Not memorable, nor did anything have us saying to each other, ‘You gotta try this.” The Doughnuts were nice. But my Fried Fish and Grits (not really grits) needed some help in the flavor department. The pancakes were heavy, and the burger was overcooked blah. It was a Saturday morning rush, so perhaps that didn’t help. And our server was a bit fluttered. I probably won’t go back with so many other brunch options.

Wonderful food and gracious service! We were looking for something fun to do and made our way to downtown Durham for the evening. We ran across Jack Tar and the Colonel’s Daughter and they were able to seat our party of 4 at the bar right away on busy Saturday evening. It turned out great! We enjoyed watching all of the lovely dishes coming together. The menu is small but mighty- we all enjoyed our dinners- the pork chop, schezuan hot chicken, and double cheeseburger all got 2 thumbs up! And the hush puppy appetizer was great, as well!

Great place for brunch. If you go with a group, be sure to try the homemade crullers. You really can't mess with anything on the menu. Just know they are super busy and low on staff. Your food will come quickly but you won't see a server very often. The cocktail menu has some unique twists on favorites.

The food came out quickly and looked great. Food runner offered me hot sauce and brought a couple fore to choice from. Raven was very attentive and noticed my eggs were not how I ordered them without me even mentioning it. The drinks available were very interesting flavor combinations and pretty. There is a fair wage fee, it doesn't bother me I just wish food would just be more expensive rather than have a separate fee. I'm sure the servers get a lot of angst about it.

Best breakfast in Durham. Every single dish I’ve gotten on the menu is excellent (I’ve tried 3/4 of the menu). Only sat outdoors as I have a small child and it’s still pandemic times, but the outside is nice as they have umbrellas for shade. Staff is super nice and always accommodating!

Excellent food! The location was in a nice spot in downtown Durham which is always a good thing. Most importantly, the food was excellent! I had the Mother and Child reunion for brunch and it was incredible! It was kind of like an eggs benedict but with biscuits and a giant piece of fried chicken (which was the best I've had in a long time!) and it was fantastic! I didn't expect to go here for brunch but I'm glad I came in.

I had the Western Omelette with hash browns….so freaking good! My wife had baked migas and she loved it! Highly recommend!

Was able to get a table outside. The weather was great. The food was awesome 😎. I had a super sized buttery blueberry pancake that was 😍 amazing. I also tried the burger my nephew ordered juicy homemade and delicious it was.

Stopped here as a recommended by my brother and it was incredible! For a Saturday morning, we only had to wait about 7 mins for seats (for 4 people). Everything we ate was amazing. I had the migas and my husband had the chicken and biscuits. My kids enjoyed the pastries. The service was outstanding. Nice people, great food, highly recommend!

What's nice about here is I can sit outside with my friends, eat, be reasonably warm in winter with the outdoor space heaters, and not worry so much about getting sick with COVID. They also have a good brunch Wednesday through Sunday. They have indoor seating if you need it. And there are a lot of nice people working here. Two thumbs up. 👍👍

We had the chicken sandwich at Jack Tar for lunch. It was one of the best chicken sandwiches we have had. The chicken had a great flavor and the bun was soft. The fries were really good too. I love that they have outside seating. The waitress was super friendly and attentive. Tip: Take your covid vaccination card (or have a pic). Proof of vaccination is required for customers over 12 years of age.

Excellent breakfast spot. We loved the mother and child reunion, the Julia Child omelette and the fresh-squeezed OJ (the machine is right there in the dining area!). They should let customers choose the oranges from a basket. The portions are generous and delicious. We will be back.

What amazing service and amazing food. Our waitress, Kelly, was an absolute Doll. If you are downtown and looking for a good drink and a good bite I highly recommend! And the fact that they require proof of vaccines makes me feel so safe. This is clearly a local business that cares about their community.

Very very good food with a lively brunch crowd. The service is prompt and courteous, but it seems to suffer from the same "chill" that has taken root in much of the service industry since the pandemic. That is to say, the servers are not particularly warm or friendly to customers. I wish this place nothing but success, but I'll probably stick to my friendlier haunts in town, at least for now.
