Best pancake I’ve ever had in my life. Y’all, I cook delicious pancakes and I choose Jack Tar’s over mine EVERY TIME! Every dish we had was delicious. My daughter loved her burger and she is as picky an eater as they come. The poutine was scrumptious. The staff was wonderful, accommodating and nice. Go here!

Neither disappointed or impressed, I anticipated getting a higher end burger n wings! Very good over all! Only con I experienced was my date didn't get all the topings she asked for. Simple mistake, no big deal. Atmosphere and service was good too

Update: on two recent weekday visits the restaurant only had one server on opening. It slowed down service a lot. On the second visit another person helped by delivering dishes, but even so the service was slow. Just had breakfast here. Nice option near the hotels. The pancakes are delicious but heavy! 😋 The syrup was really good! The bacon is nice and thick. Good hash browns too. The coffee is just OK. There was more toast than I could eat. We were there on a Saturday morning and the place was quickly bustling.

I've only been here twice, but both times it was fantastic. The best comparison I can think of is a typical American diner... But fancier. The food is priced a little high but very very good. I've gotten breakfast both times I've visited and been very impressed. Food comes out quick and sevice is also on the ball, so it's great even for a quick lunch.

Adult yumm. Pancakes, bone marrow, fresh donuts. Maybe start next door at the taproom. It's a great atmosphere and the outdoor tables are great if the weather is on your side. If you need anything special it can't hurt to ask; everyone is super cool and want you to have a great experience.

It was a warm morning so we decided to sit outside. A nice seating area can be found right in front of the restaurant. The first thing that struck us was the prices. For a basic 2-egg breakfast with hash browns, it's $11.00. That is VERY expensive for a BASIC breakfast. Food was okay, not bad. Service was good. We came here only because we were staying next door and it was convenient. Overpriced. Probably would not return here when I am back in town.

We went here for dinner last night based on reviews here. It was nice and bright in there, and the atmosphere seemed nice; we felt out of place with our young kid with us, but were offered a high chair and a kids’ menu, so maybe not. The service was average or slightly better, and they offered to put our stroller in the office for us. I don’t know; everyone was nice, but I felt like we were out of place here, even though we were dressed at the same level as other diners. The food... my husband had the crab cakes, and said they were “okay,” not the worst but definitely not the best, and bland. I had the ravioli; I didn’t taste sage, and the other flavors weren’t noticeable or memorable. The sauce looked like it SHOULD be flavorful, but just tasted like water (seriously) on its own. I know I saw the word “butter” in the description, but there was no butter flavor here. The texture inside the pasta was odd, gritty,, and the best bites were the ones LADEN with shredded cheese on top. Most pieces had no cheese, but the ones with cheese had mounds almost as big as the ravioli itself. If a ravioli needs that much cheese as a crutch, it’s not worth it, and I didn’t finish since it seemed a waste of calories, and ended up going somewhere else after we left. I wouldn’t eat here again. The price seems on par for similar dishes for restaurants of this size and atmosphere, but I expect better food for this price.

One of the best places in Durham to get lunch/brunch! My bf got one of the best looking stacks of pancakes I've ever seen, and I got a tomato pie, which felt like a combination of a tomato mayo sandwich and savory pie (two of my favorite things!) It's a little pricier than other breakfast places like Elmo's Dinner, but totally worth it in my opinion.

Loud. Weird aesthetic, not sure what they're going for. Limited menu--I wasn't feeling well and couldn't find anything that wasn't fancified. That said, my husband loved his meal (catfish). The collards were amazing. The mac & cheese had good flavor but was oddly watery. We both loved the peach pie paired with peach ice cream.
