What's New in Durham, NC? (April 2018)

This season, windows are opening to welcome spring air, but so are doors to new restaurants and stores to welcome new patrons.

County Fare

Nightly food truck rodeos, rotating schedules of dining options, and an on-site bar and kitchen serving county fair favorites make this location one you won't want to miss. Enjoy the warmer Carolina months in County Fare's indoor and outdoor spaces equipped with ample seating, corn hole, bocce, and lawn space for the whole family.

East Durham Bake Shop

This highly anticipated bakery and café has a seating area and open kitchen with a rotating seasonal menu. East Durham Bake Shop will feature pie by the slice with locally roasted coffee and tea, other baked goods, and savory pies using seasonal combinations of local veggies, meat and cheese. The menu will also include gluten-free options and breakfast/lunch catering boxes.

Formerly Old Havana Sandwich Shop, COPA serves savory dinners, lunch, and weekend brunch in rooms embellished with warm, comforting Caribbean hues. Expect to find indulgent, farm cultivated tapas and signature cocktails that pay homage to great men and women from Cuban history.

Jack Tar Diner and the Colonel's Daughter

The creators of Pizzeria Toro and Littler brought us Jack Tar Diner and the Colonel's Daughter right beneath the new Unscripted Hotel. A diner featuring local and homemade cuisine, Jack Tar is host to breakfast, lunch, and dinner items from 7am to midnight every day of the week. Expect biscuits and gravy, smoked salmon, and “turducken” sausage, or fried oyster banh mi, lamb meatball sliders, and Szechuan peppercorn hot chicken, among other offerings.

Lily's Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe

Lily's Cheesecake Bakery & Cafe features artfully designed house-made cheesecake, French pastries, cakes, and Mediterranean desserts. Don't leave without trying the red velvet cheesecake or the Mediterranean kanafah!

Kickback Jack's

Located within minutes of Duke University, Kickback Jack's newest location features made-from-scratch appetizers, mouth-watering burgers, and award-winning wings. Enjoy a variety of brews, cocktails, and daily drink specials with your meal.

Saltbox Seafood Joint II

If you liked his first location near Old Five Points, you’ll love his renovated brick and mortar near Rockwood. The second location of the popular counter-service Saltbox Seafood Joint from acclaimed chef Ricky Moore features fresh fish delivered daily from the NC coast.
