We're offering a bit of a peek behind the curtain of our local Durham lives – enjoy our pro tips on how we're planning to make the most of summer in Durham before fall arrives!

I've got some unfinished business in the Bull City this summer! Each year I make it my goal to take a photo with Wool E. Bull at a Durham Bulls game (I haven't caught him yet this season!) and build up the courage to hold a hedgehog one Saturday at The Farmers' Market at Durham Central Park.
While the light is still beautiful but it's not too hot, I also plan to have a mini photo shoot in front of a Durham mural I haven't yet discovered (though the photos our very own graphic designer, Emma Rochon, took of me in Alley 25 will be hard to top)!
Will, Director of Digital Marketing and Analytics
Who has time for all that hot sun? I need to get my nerd on indoors somewhere it’s air-conditioned and the beer can flow freely, like The Atomic Fern. I plan on spending several evenings in this small little dive bar working my way through their extensive and impressive board game library.
I definitely need to check out NC Escape’s newest room! I did their steampunk “Ex Machina” room on a double date last year. They’ve got a new one open now that I want to try. I have done a lot of escape rooms all over the state, and NC Escape is among the best!
I can’t wait for the new Dame’s Chicken & Waffles location to open in the Central Park District. The first time I ever stepped foot in Durham, it was to go to Dame’s almost a decade ago.
Ashleigh, Director, Durham Sports Commission
Family friendly activities at Bull City Crafts and the AR Workshop are what I'll look forward to doing this summer with my daughter. We will also be participating in athletic camps at Duke University. It's great to have two incredible universities in our backyard!
Margaret, Director of Content and PR
And then, ya know, maybe try to walk it all off by going to the Durham Farmers’ Market and joining one of the Preservation Durham tours.
