Preparing for Hurricane Dorian
As we watch Dorian track along the East Coast, we’re thinking of those already affected while trying to prepare as best we can here at home.
As we watch Dorian track along the East Coast, we’re thinking of those already affected while trying to prepare as best we can here at home. We encourage everyone to register to receive emergency alerts and other critical information from City of Durham/Durham County Emergency Management. If you are on social media, Emergency Management is also on Twitter and Facebook as @AlertDurham. Dorian happens to coincide with National Preparedness Month, so they’ve already tweeted tips on how to stay prepared and consider unique needs for your families and friends, like supplies for pets or seniors.
Discover Durham has also launched our Emergency Lodging Hotline, a public-facing database of hotels in Durham County that have rooms available, allow pets, and so forth. It serves as a quick digest for travelers to find which properties might best fit their needs, and we work with our hotel partners to update it daily. If you know anyone evacuating the coast, or those that might be traveling to North Carolina to respond and help, we hope this information is useful. You can find the hotline on our homepage, DiscoverDurham.com, and at this direct link. Please forward it along to anyone who might need the information.
