Our entire city has been waiting with baited breath for months for show dates. The day has finally arrived. Tonight at 7:00pm, ABC 11 announced dates and times for the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) 2018/2019 season, giving you plenty of time to plan an entire weekend around the record-shattering performance.

Hamilton is coming to the Bull City Nov 6 - Dec 2, 2018! If you've somehow managed to avoid the Hamilton craze over the past few years, Hamilton is the story of one of America's founding fathers. Alexander Hamilton was an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War. He was also the new nation's first Treasury Secretary. Featuring a score from multi-talented writer and musician, Lin-Manuel Miranda, that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway, Hamilton is the story of America then as told by America now.

If by the off chance you're still debating whether to take advantage of Hamilton coming to our neck of the woods, here are a few things to consider. Last year, Hamilton received a record-setting 16 Tony nominations, winning 11 awards including Best Musical. Before embarking on a national tour, the show took place in New York City where its popularity made access to tickets nearly impossible. Now that the show is coming here, you'll be able to enjoy it alongside James Beard Award-nominated restaurants, the nationally-recognized Sarah Duke Gardens and world-class museums like the Nasher Museum of Art.

Also exciting is the coinciding 10th anniversary of the opening of DPAC in November, the largest performing arts center in North Carolina and the state's premier hub for live entertainment. The state-of-the-art center features 2,700 seats, ideal sightlines, innovative sound and video and hosts more than 200 performances a year. This year, as a part of the 2017-2018 Broadway season, you can still catch Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles (2/23 & 2/24), Phantom of the Opera (2/28 – 3/11), The Color Purple (4/3 – 4/8), The Sound of Music (4/20 – 4/22) and Waitress The Musical (5/1 – 5/6). While you count down the days and hours for the Hamilton, book a ticket for these fantastic shows this spring. We hope to see you in Durham for Broadway's best!
